The City of Goose Creek is hosting a free, family-friendly pet adoption and awareness event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Central Creek Park. This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 21 but postponed due to weather.

The “Find Your Fur-ever Home” celebration will bring animal lovers and local rescue organizations together for a day of fun, education, and the opportunity to give a deserving animal a new home.  

Local and regional animal rescues and shelters will be onsite with adoptable dogs. In addition to adoptions, the event will raise awareness about animal welfare issues, including rescue, rehabilitation, and the prevention of animal abuse.  

Attendees can enjoy bounce houses, face painting, music, food vendors, a petting zoo, and interactive activities for children. 

A raffle will be held to benefit local rescue organizations, with attendees receiving one raffle ticket in exchange for donating an approved pet supply item. Requested donation items include:

  • Beds
  • Collars
  • Puppy Collars
  • Leashes
  • Harnesses
  • Toys
  • Blankets
  • Towels
  • Pee Pee Pads
  • Cat Litter
  • Crates (gently used and in good condition) 

For the safety of all animals and attendees, this event is not pet-friendly. Please leave personal pets at home to help reduce stress among rescue animals participating in the event. 

“Find Your Fur-Ever Friend is more than just an adoption event,” City of Goose Creek Special Events Coordinator Yuliana Alcon said. “It’s an opportunity to support our local rescues in a meaningful way, educate the public, and create a fun, welcoming space where families can make a real impact in the lives of animals in need.” 

The event will also feature local vendors, including pet-focused businesses and artisans. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, and a donation item for the raffle.
