City of Goose Creek

Carter Knox is the 2025 Goose Creek City Amateur Overall Men’s Champion after posting a total score of 143 over the two-day tournament at Crowfield Golf Club in Goose Creek.

Knox was one of three champions Sunday, as Aubrey Merryman shot a two-day score of 147 to capture the Women’s title, and Sean Mason won the Senior Division with a score of 152.

The 28-year-old Knox played college golf at Endicott College in Massachusetts. The Vermont native called golf a family game that he and his brother have been playing “since we were old enough to walk.”

“The golf course at Crowfield is great, and I love the people here,” Knox said after receiving his championship trophy from Goose Creek Mayor Greg Habib following Sunday’s round. “I’ve been playing some good golf. I played Friday’s (practice round) and hit it well, so I knew I was set up to do well.”

Knox called his strategy at Crowfield “target golf… you’ve got to hit your spots.”

Knox, who has played in several tournaments in 2025, said that golf has always been an important part of his life. 

“I love being outside,” he said. “It’s a great way to get away from a lot of distractions like computers and phones. I love the game.”
