City's Building Official wins statewide honor

We are incredibly proud of City of Goose Creek Building Official Thurman Pellum, who has been named the Building Officials Association of South Carolina Member of the Year for 2026. The statewide honor was presented at the BOASC’s conference in Myrtle Beach last week. Over 140 building officials from around the state attended the annual event.
The award is voted on by the association’s membership, and was presented to Thurman by BOASC President Ruthie Helms.
As the City’s Building Official, Thurman – who previously won the award in 2023 – makes sure construction projects comply with local, state and national building codes. Congratulations, Thurman, and keep up the great work!
