Jul 29 2025
Goose Creek, S.C. — The City of Goose Creek is proud to partner with Lowcountry Local First (LLF) to bring the highly acclaimed Community Business Academy (CBA) to our community this fall. This 14-week program, offered at no cost to participants beyond a small materials fee, will serve Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs who are ready to start or grow a business in Goose Creek and surrounding areas.
Beginning August 26, 2025, classes will be held every Tuesday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Berkeley Electric Cooperative (2 Springhall Dr., Goose Creek, SC 29445). The course, which typically carries a value of $3,000, is made accessible thanks to generous supporters and a shared investment in inclusive economic development.
“We’re excited to support this initiative as part of our commitment to building a vibrant, diverse small business community in Goose Creek,” said Mayor Greg Habib. “Programs like the Community Business Academy empower local residents to turn their ideas into action, contributing to both their families and our city’s economic vitality.”
The CBA offers a hands-on, interactive curriculum designed to walk entrepreneurs through every aspect of developing a business plan. Classes are taught by seasoned business owners who provide practical guidance and real-world insights. Participants will also gain access to a growing network of peer support, mentors, and community resources.
Past graduates of the CBA report benefits beyond the classroom, including access to professional mentorship, office space, and funding opportunities.
