City of Goose Creek

The City of Goose Creek has announced the date of its application for the 2026–2027 class of the Mayor’s Leadership Council (MLC), a unique program designed to inspire and develop the next generation of community leaders.

Launched in early 2025 by Greg Habib, the Mayor’s Leadership Council is a nine-month program that gives selected high school students the opportunity to collaborate on a meaningful community service project while gaining firsthand insight into how local government operates.

The program is open to rising juniors and seniors from Northwood Academy, Stratford High School, Goose Creek High School, Cane Bay High School, as well as homeschool students with a strong interest in public service and leadership.

Applications for the upcoming class will open on April 20, 2026, and must be submitted by May 17, 2026.

Mayor Habib emphasized the importance of investing in young leaders:
“I have tremendous faith in the next generation of leaders being produced right here in Goose Creek,” said Mayor Habib. “I want to educate, nurture and inspire these young leaders, and that’s what MLC will do.”

Students selected for the Mayor’s Leadership Council will gain valuable leadership experience, build connections with peers, and develop a deeper understanding of civic engagement and local governance.
